Crafting Quality Fences for Over Three DecadesA Response to a Need
Thirty years ago, we recognized a need for better-quality fencing in Fairfield County. The market was saturated with mass-produced fences manufactured far from our region, with no emphasis on quality control. The only goal was low cost. We decided it was time to change that. Thus, the Fence Factory Inc. custom woodshop was born.
Superior Materials for Superior Fences
Our pursuit of excellence begins with sourcing superior cedar boards and posts. Our partnership with a family-run sawmill in Vermont, known for its unwavering focus on quality, allows us to obtain lumber tailored to our stringent specifications. This lumber is stacked with spacers and air-dried for months, a process that ensures slow and thorough drying.
Craftsmanship Meets Technology
In our 3000 square foot woodshop, equipped with all necessary machinery, our fences take shape. Our artisans, with backgrounds in cabinetry and carpentry, bring a wealth of experience and a keen eye for beauty and quality. Using top-notch hardware, including stainless steel nails and epoxy-coated screws, they assemble fence panels that are sturdy, beautiful, and built to last.
Our Stain Shop
Perfecting the Final TouchOnce your fence is expertly crafted, we offer an additional service of staining. Our indoor stain facility provides a controlled environment, ensuring the best possible finish.
Our Approach
Achieving a superior finish involves a meticulous six-step process:
- Proper Drying: We stack the wood to allow maximum airflow, effectively removing moisture.
- Sanding and Filling: Using a high-performance air filler, our artisans fill nail holes and slight imperfections, followed by thorough sanding for a smooth surface.
- Priming: We prime the wood to seal it, maximizing the cedar's natural tannin bleeding.
- Top Coat Application: Two coats of solid stain are applied with adequate drying time in between.
- Stacking and Delivery: Our careful stacking process with layers of wax paper ensures your fence arrives in optimal condition.
- Installation and Touch-up Work: Following installation, our team fills any screw holes and performs necessary touch-up painting.
Vinyl Shop
Fence Customization at its BestOur vinyl shop empowers us to create custom fence sections needed to overcome obstacles like rocks, roots, or pipes encountered during installation. We can build areas of varying heights and widths, maintaining the overall look of the fence. In addition, we manufacture our own vinyl gates, which are stronger than those available from other vinyl manufacturers. Custom gate openings are no challenge for our team.
